The Russian winter finally rolled around. The coldest it got while we were outside (that we know of) was -36 C. That's really, really, really cold. Everything that's not covered hurts. So naturally we spent more time outside this week than we have any other time in the past 3 months.
We had some real miracles happen this week. One of our investigators, Vitali, finally found time to meet with us again, not only once but twice. We were nervous, because we were giving the hard lessons (Word of Wisdom, Chastity, Tithing, and Fasting) but he took it all really well. He already had wanted to quit smoking, which was great. The real miracle was tithing. He is in a financially tough situation right now, so we had no idea how it would go. But, we asked him if he knew anything about it, and he laid the entire law of tithing down. He knew it all! More than that, he said it was only fair, since the church is true! Then, he asked what the holdup for baptism is! He made so much progress this week, and we are excited to see what happens in the next little bit.
In other news, we had dinner with some members this week and tried some crazy foods. Холодец (holladyets) is a meat jello. Think chicken salad, but jello consistency. Сала (sulah) is a block of straight pig fat that you slice and put on bread. Anything to keep warm, right?
God is real, and his works rolls forward!
With love,
Elder Wilkins
